Last Monday

Early last Monday morning, I had the privilege of meeting a new baby girl that my friends Mamie & Jeremy welcomed into the world. She has a full head of hair, her dad’s lips, and her mom’s nose. She is breathtakingly beautiful. She is such a joy and blessing already.

After visiting and taking a few images, I went home to get some sleep.

When I woke up, I heard the news about the Boston bombing.

Such an unnecessary, malice, and heartbreaking tragedy.

Even now, I want to cry thinking about how heartless and malicious of an event that was. It reminds me of the senselessness of Newtown all over again. And I couldn’t even write about that event; it was too devastating.

I had every intention of blogging last week, but with the heavy weight of what happened, it just didn’t feel right. I know that tragedies occur every day, and yet, it seems that tragedies involving devilish hearts are the worst. I don’t like that there are people out there with such hatred to do things like that. I just don’t get it.

My job allows me to surround myself with all things love, joy, and happiness. I feel extremely lucky for that. It’s terrifying to live in this world where hateful people take something as joyful and freeing as running a marathon, or going to the movies, or going to school, and turn it into a tragedy. Again, I just don’t get it.

All I know is the bad guys never win.
