I’ve debated on posting this for many reasons. One of which is that I don’t want people to think I’m preaching to them.

Then, I thought, “Well, if it can help ONE person, then that’s wonderful.”

So, I’m posting this in the hope that it can help at least one person.

Last summer, I went to the dermatologist to get a few moles looked at. They were just a bit darker than all my other moles, so I wanted to get them checked out. The dermatologist took them off right away.

She called about a week later and said one of the moles was a moderately dysplastic nevi. Click here to read the specifics on that.

Basically, it meant that if left alone it could become cancerous, and she needed to remove more of the area around the mole to make sure she got out all of the abnormal cells.

And that made me cry!

See, I am a hypochondriac about two things: my car & my skin.

I’m always worried about my car breaking down, and about funny looking moles. I had a mole removed in 2010, that was just mildly abnormal, so I check my skin like a hawk now.

I have been in the tanning bed a handful of times years ago, and I was pretty good about putting sunscreen on, so this was a shock to me. I have fair skin and I like it! I try to take care of it and then the fact that I had a mole that has a greater chance of creating cancer scared the daylights out of me!

Thankfully, she removed enough and got clean margins. Now, I have to get my skin checked out regularly, just in case. And I always wear sunscreen now!

The point of this is with the warmer weather right around the corner, please, please, PLEASE, wear sunscreen! (Which, you are supposed to wear sunscreen all year round. So wear it all year! ;) ) I love the sun, too, but I know that it can really damage you in the long run. So, wear sunscreen and remember to reapply! And definitely DON’T use a tanning bed! You will have wrinkles prematurely, and have a MUCH, MUCH higher risk of cancer. Click here to learn more about skin protection.

I know a lot of people really pride themselves on being tan, so just get a spray tan. You will be taking care of your skin, while still being tan.

Trust me, even the slightest chance of cancer isn’t fun. I can’t even imagine paying to go to a tanning bed anymore; it’s like paying for an increased risk of cancer, and possibly even cancer.

And if you have any strange looking moles, definitely get them checked out. It’s better to do it now, than wait a few years when it could develop into something more.

I woke up at 6:19 this morning. I know that because I squinted my eyes just enough to see what time it was on the cable box. I wanted to make sure I remembered what time the robber came into our house.

And then? Then I realized that noise that woke me up was just Lexi.

You know, that furry creature that is the light of our lives?

Yep. Apparently, the time change has made me a bit irrational. Hopefully it’ll pass. ;)

Anyway, then Rick got up, and apparently sensed that I awoke in fear. He said, “Did you get up because you thought our kitty was a big bad burglar?”

He said “big bad burglar” in a sing-song-y voice that clearly meant he was making fun of me. Or, just too embarrassed to admit that he thought it was a big bad burglar, too. ;)

In other news, we didn’t get the house. My realtor called Friday afternoon. I was so glad she called and told me at the beginning of the weekend instead of having to think about it all weekend. The sellers said it was because we weren’t able to close as fast as the other offer(s).

I feel so much better about the entire situation. I am excited to go look again tomorrow, and know that the right house is out there. I am a firm believer in what’s meant to be will be, and that first one just wasn’t meant for us. In the same respect, I am also a firm believer in being proactive in what you want to happen. So, I’ve been searching online this weekend, and have found a few more houses that I’m eager to look at. :)

From Haley & Kyle’s engagement session this weekend:

Have a fabulous, albeit rainy, Monday!

On Monday, after looking at a few more houses, Rick and I decided to put an offer in on a house.

We officially put the offer in on Wednesday.

Yesterday, we got a call from our realtor who told us there were more offers than ours on the table. So, we had to put our best offer in and then sometime this weekend the sellers will pick their best or favorite offer. And then, if they don’t pick us, we have to continue looking for our house.

I had imagined what would happen if the sellers rejected our first offer all together, or if they countered, or if they came back at full price. I had never imagined what would happen if other people put offers in as well. We don’t know if it’s one offer, or two, or even three. We have to wait and see.

Ahh, to say my heart was a bit broken is an understatement. I felt defeated. I still feel defeated. We probably won’t know until Monday what the sellers decide, but for the first time in this whole experience, I’m not that optimistic.

After we put in our best offer, I searched online for more houses, and kept comparing them to this house. I’m trying to remain positive, but the thought of trying to find a house we like more than this house is daunting. The houses in the areas we are looking are selling fast.

Who knows? We could have the best offer and this house could be ours. For now, I’m not getting my hopes up.

So, that’s where we are on the house hunt. I am so glad today is Friday and that I have a busy weekend planned. I hope that will help keep my mind off of this house stuff.

And if we ever, ever, ever buy a house I want to do this:

Have a nice weekend!
