Sweet Ryden, the son of Brittany & Wade, was so alert and expressive during his newborn session. I couldn’t believe he was just a few days old when we took these images. I am always so thrilled when couple’s who I have captured maternity photos, come back for newborn photos too. I always want to see that precious little one that was the talk of the town during the maternity session. :) Ryden’s full head of hair and ever changing facial expressions made this newborn session so wonderful. He’s a handsome little guy, and I am beyond happy for Brittany & Wade. Thank you both for letting me meet & photograph Ryden in his first days of life! Enjoy these and a few more on the slideshow at the end. :)  He smiles! Love:  I tricked him and he closed his eyes. :)  I loved all of his “accessories” & toys. :)  The sweetest little hat:  Baby fingernails!!! Ahh, super tiny & precious:  Ah, one of my favorites:

Rick & I have become those people.

Those people who talk about cheating.

Cheating on our diet, that is.

Those people who talk about weight and weight loss and food and clothes fitting better.

Yep. Rick and I have been on a diet for almost two months now. And I apologize for being one of those people who obsessively talk about food and weight and clothes fitting better.

I actually perfer to call it a “lifestyle change” other than a diet. A diet insinuates that we are going to go back to eating junk all the time. Which, I hope, we are not.

Before this lifestyle change, I always hated that term… “lifestyle change.” But it really is.

Yes, we have cheat days. (And boy, was this weekend a cheat weekend! It involved cake and ice cream. Oh goodness… so good.)

But, we always know that in the long run, this lifestyle change is one we are going to have to stick with. (And, I believe, cake & ice cream is so, SO much better in moderation.)

And the fact that I just admitted all of this on the Internet pretty much means we have to stick to it, right? Right.

So, here’s to a no cheating Monday!

Cheat days are an integral part of any good eating program, and essential if you want to stick with it. Enjoy (in moderation) whatever you want once in a while. It’ll help keep your body from getting in the “calorie saving” mode!

Thank you!! I agree! I am trying to let go of guilt on the cheat days. :)

  • I’m the opposite. I have one good day and 6 cheat days. I’m trying to curb that slowly around in the other direction!! Wedding season is the hardest for me because I just grab anything I can get my hands on and eat at crazy late hours. So glad you’re sticking to it! I’m hoping your post will get me motivated:)

  • […] Yes, I’m going to be cheating on my diet and indulging in cake – at least I hope there will be cake sometime this week. Hint, hint, […]

I love love love fall. But, you already knew that, right? :) On Monday, I spent a few minutes outside photographing nature in all its gorgeousness and, consequently, I felt like a hippie. It was wonderful! If I didn’t already have a ton of stuff on my to-do list, I would go back outside and take more right this second. That’s how much I love fall. :)

But I must press onward into the editing world, which brings me to this post. While I was outside Monday, I turned the camera around and took a few photos of myself. I had SO much fun and liked the images in camera already.

Through editing, I was able to add a little something special to the images. All of the editing on this particular image was done in Lightroom 3.

So, here’s a before & after of a self-portrait I took on Monday:

Left – Straight out of the camera, shot in RAW format, with my Nikon D700, 60mm 2.8 & exposed at: ISO 500, F/3.2 at 1/1250 of a second:

Right – Skin smoothing (hey, I’m human, & yes, I do love lightly smoothing out imperfections ;) ), saturation & vibrance increase, warmth increase, a little fill light, a touch of contrast, removal of the sun flare spot in between my eyes, a little brightening of my eye color, and boom! The final product that I loooooovvvve! Is it creepy if I just hang this photo of myself in our house? ha!

Have a great weekend, you guys!
