There’s a tool in Photoshop called “Content Aware” that basically lets you “delete” anything in a photograph and then it automatically matches, rearranges, and prettifies the deleted pixels to similar pixels around it. BaDaBing! Easier removal of ‘stuff’. Here’s an example:

How cute are they?! I definitely didn’t want the pole behind them to hinder the image, so I deleted it! Love it. :)

But, this post isn’t about how cute Karrie & Alfonso are, or about deleting poles, or about Content Aware in Photoshop. It’s actually about Facebook, Twitter &  social media in general.

As a business owner, and long-time social media addict, (I joined Facebook in 2006! Crazy!), I have learned to I only put online what I want people to see.

I say “learned to” because the idea of only putting what I want people to see online seems SO simple, yet, like many people, it took a while for me to figure out that others do not want to see negativity. Years ago, before I started Bethany Ann Photography, Rick brought it to my attention that I was being a Negative Nancy online by posting statuses like, “Ugh, my head hurts.” “What a terrible day.” “I hate this or that.” Now, at the time, social media was not as popular, or as prevalent in everyone’s every day life, but when he brought that up, I immediately felt guilty. In the grand scheme of life, I literally did not have anything to complain out. I was just complaining to be complaining! And since then, if it ain’t nice or happy or positive, I’m not going to post it.

Far too many times, I have noticed & heard people complain about how much drama social media causes their lives. I always want to ask, how are you contributing to that? Because if you are specifically posting negativity and hatred on your social media accounts, of course there will be drama. Negativity & Drama are BFFs.

This idea of being Content Aware via social media came to me when I was driving out of the blue. It was just a random thought, that I couldn’t get out of my head. Weeks later, on this beautiful day, I just wanted to challenge everyone to be more aware of their social media accounts. Delete the drama! Life is so much bigger than social media, and it’s not worth fighting or negative energy coming through a computer screen. :)

Have a terrific Thursday!

What a fantastic post Bethany!! All too many times I have come so close to posting something negative and instead try and find something positive to post about instead…it was challenging in the beginning, but now is second nature. I don’t even want to post negative things! Great post…definitely hope it opens some eyes! :)

Thanks for your input Kayla!! There’s so much drama going on in the photography community right now, but it’s not worth it. As long as I’m happy outside of the computer, that’s all that matters. :) Thank you for your comment!! Have a great day!!

I AGREE with you! That is the main reason I try to end almost every FB status or post with an exclamation mark!

    Me too! :)

Emsley is ever so adorable. I met her on her 1 year birthday last week and had a ball getting to know her. My wonderful clients, Diana & Eric, gave Emsley’s mom, Eric’s sister, a gift certificate for a portrait session at her baby shower a year ago. How fun is it to meet the baby that Diana & Eric were so excited about a year ago!? And it was so nice to meet Thera, Emsley’s mom. She is just as sweet and easy going as Miss Emsley. Plus, she has a great sense of style. I loved all of the outfits she picked out for Emsley. Enjoy these and a few more on the slideshow at the end.   I love this, because even though she can’t talk, I feel like she was about to just say, “What do I do with my hands?” because that’s a question I get asked a lot while photographing adults. ;)  Love Love LOVE:  Don’t you just want to stick your tongue out at someone sometimes? :)  And then don’t you just want to throw a fit if someone takes your pacifier (and/or hurts your feelings)!?! But then, we ended the session on some sweet smiles from playing games:

Have a great day!

Today I want to encourage you to Draw Something AWESOME! It’s amazing how quickly the Draw Something game on my iPhone/iPad has become my favorite game, like ever. It is just like Pictionary, except there is no winner. The point? Well, I think the point of the game is to have FUN. Oh, and to see how many turns you can get without passing your turn. :) My current streak? 99!!!! Crazy, right?! It’s also amazing how fun and addicting the game is. I’m sure my mom will hate me for this, but here are a few of my favorites that she has drawn me and I have drawn for her. ;)

My mom is a UK fan too. She drew Anthony Davis rebounding a ball for the word REBOUND. What’s not awesome? I didn’t guess it right away. I knew it was Anthony Davis though. ;)

Apparently I drew a “Nice Toaster” and mom drew a cat + woman! :)  I feel the need to include UK Blue in nearly every photo:   Woo Hoo! I recorded the 90th turn. I need to capture 100, if it flips over to 100 when I get there. That’s right, folks, I have big dreams! ;)  I have drawn Lexi a few times. I think this photo needs to have more gray & more belly… but don’t tell her I said that. ;)  How AWESOME is this skeleton!?!?! Love it:  And this was just hilarious. Yesterday I texted Mom, (or Mommy, as I’m clearly still 4 and have her labeled as that in my phone), a photo of Lexi. I love what she wrote back. ;)

Have a Draw-Something-Awesome kind of day! :)
