Good morning! I am up EARLY.

Well, let me rephrase that. I woke up WAY TOO EARLY.

4:30 to be exact. I tried to go back to sleep, but at almost 6:00, I decided to just get up. I am SO GLAD I DID, too. Otherwise, I would’ve missed this beautiful, BEAUTIFUL, sunrise:

Yesterday afternoon. we had Graham a little birthday cookout with a few family members. I wanted to keep it small because I didn’t want to get stressed out. Guess what? I was still stressed. Isn’t it funny how that happens?!

Anyway, it was another day of no naps for that kid. It’s happened a few times, but I really, I mean REALLY, wanted him to nap yesterday. I wanted him to be in a GREAT mood for his birthday cookout. Well, he never napped, but he still seemed to be in a good mood. I say good instead of great because he literally had an epic meltdown right at 8pm, his usual bedtime.

It was as if he was saying, “OKAY, I’ve been a trooper staying up ALL DAY to enjoy my day, but now I just really need to relax in the bath and then snuggle up in a warm fuzzy robe to watch the Real Housewives of New York City!”

So, yeah, he really doesn’t watch the Housewives. That was just me projecting what I wanted to do, I guess. ;)

Besides that meltdown, which I’ll be sure to tell him about when he is older, he loved his cake, his people, and playing with a paper plate. Yep. I should’ve just skipped buying him toys and wrapped up some paper plates for him. :)

Anyway! I love reading blogs, so I figured if you are reading this then you might like reading blogs, too. So, below are a few of my favorite blogs to follow. Most of them are Lifestyle blogs, but one is photography related. I am really into the Lifestyle ones lately. Let me know what your favorites are, too, as I’m always looking for more to read when I wake up early… like WAY TOO EARLY.

FYI, when you click the links below, they will open up a NEW tab/window so you won’t have to worry about losing your place on here.

Justin & Mary – Photography Blog

The Chic Site – I love her SO MUCH that it is kind of absurd at this point. I found her Facebook page randomly one night and I swear I stayed up until 2AM reading a bajillon blog posts. And, I love “Chic Color Story” images on Instagram! The idea is that every image she posts for a certain month has to have a certain color somewhere in it. I like trying to find the color hidden in the image if it isn’t obvious where it is. (It’s the little things that make me the most excited. haha!) Follow her on Instagram HERE. And while you are on there follow me on Instagram HERE, too. ;)

The Nesting Story

I am photographing Leah & Zach’s wedding tomorrow, so be sure to come back next week for a few images from their big day. Have a fantastic weekend!

And just like that, you are one. One entire year has gone by since we met. It seems totally plausible and yet, odd. You were just born! We just found out about you! How in the world are you ONE? And, then I think back to the long nights of little sleep, reflux choking episodes, and all the newborn challenges, and it seems about right that you would now be one.

You can stand and walk around while holding onto objects, but you haven’t started walking on your own yet. You want to be sure, absolutely sure, that you can walk before you actually do it. You’ve taken a few steps without holding on, but you aren’t ready just yet. You would prefer crawling at a really fast rate, to any drunken, wobbly walking you can currently muster up. I’m the same way; I have to be ready and absolutely sure of something before I attempt it.

When you are eating your favorite yogurt melts, I’ve noticed you hum a little. It’s very endearing to me since your daddy does that sometimes while eating something yummy, too. I’m not sure if he would want me to share that, but I love that you have picked up that trait from him, totally unprompted.

I also love that when you are falling asleep, you rub your legs back and forth against the mattress. I do that too. All of your little quirks fill my soul with a type of delight that I never knew was possible before I met you, one entire, full, exciting, and sometimes exhausting, year ago.

While I was still pregnant with you, on the night after my gallbladder surgery, your dad asked me: “Are you excited to be a mom?”

Instantly, I started crying.

It instantly scared your dad, as he began asking me what was wrong. It hit me like a ton of bricks, and I just had to cry. I was 19 weeks when I had the surgery, so we had known for a while that you were on your way, but because of the issues I had, I was trying to be realistic that it might not turn out okay. I told him about all of my fears regarding the surgery, and how elated I was that it was over. I felt like I could finally breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy the thought of actually being a mom. Your mom.

You make me excited every day to be your mom. I am so proud of you and can’t imagine life without you. I am thankful for you every day and love watching you grow up. Thank you for being you! :)

Happy 1st Birthday, Graham. Your daddy and I love you so much!

If you have been around me photographing film and digital, you’ll know that with digital I’m all like,

“Okay, wonderful! Great! So cute! Keep doing that!” as I snap snap snap.

With film I’m all like,

“Okay, I’m about to take the photo. Are yall ready? Looks good. Wait, turn a little to the right. Yeah, right there. Okay, yall ready?” Followed by a few moments of silence and then I press the magical ONE shutter button.

Film is so real yall. ;) I am having a blast shooting film and digital and loving the results. Here are a few film images from Leah + Zach’s engagement session. If you want to see the digital ones just CLICK HERE.

Have a fabulous Wednesday!
