I love quotes! I heard these few quotes recently and wanted to share.

“When you’re in relationships with other people, you need to ask yourself this question: Does that person give me energy or do they take away energy? If they take away energy, you need to question the relationship.” – Selma Wilson

“Everyone who’s ever taken a shower has had an idea. It’s the person who gets out of the shower, dries off, and does something about it who makes a difference.” – Nolan Bushnell

“Gossip runs more people down than cars.” – I saw this one on a church sign near my house.

“As you create a home, don’t get distracted with a lot of things that have no meaning for you or your family. Don’t dwell on your failures, but think of your successes. Have joy in your home. Have joy in your children. Have joy in your husband. Be grateful for the journey.” – Marjorie Pay Hinckley

And I love these two so much that I wrote them on the magnetic calendar on our fridge:

“I don’t care how busy I am – I will always make time for what’s important to me.” – Kevin Hart

“People who love cats have some of the biggest hearts around.” – Susan Easterly

And! Here’s a preview from my family session this weekend. Mister Alexander Levi, at six months old!

Have you ever stumbled upon someone’s online blog and thought, “Okay, who is this person they keep writing about?” or “Well, why do they keep bringing up Friends references? And Taylor Swift!?” or “I’m so confused, but I really want to know more about this person’s life!” I know I certainly have! So, that is the reason for this post. It’s a re-introduction. A lot of people I follow on Instagram do these “Introductions” posts, and I may do one eventually, too, but I am more of a blogger, so this is my Introduction blog!

My husband Rick and I met in college. He was the student teacher in my orientation class and I met him on my very first day of college. Crazy, right? Every time I hear that song Hot for Teacher by Van Halen it makes me think back to our ol’ college days. ;) After a few years of dating, we married on October 15th 2010 at my parent’s house. On the grass airplane runway behind the house to be exact. It was a cool, sunny, beautiful autumn day. One of my favorite days.

My most favorite day ever was the day our son was born. His name is Graham Finley. He just turned one, and is a ball of energy! I write about him a lot, and love being his mommy! He has truly proven to be the best Christmas present we’ve ever received.

We have two cats, Lexington Mae and Murray Boswell. They are named after cities in Kentucky. Lexi is more high-maintenance, while Murray is easy-going and chill. I would seriously have a cat farm if Rick would let me.

My parents, Sharon & Finley, are the coolest parents ever. Is it cool to still use the phrase cool? I don’t know, but they really are the best! I am always grateful for their support, love and advice. I love shopping and having girl talk with Mom, while discussing basketball and airplanes with Dad. So yeah, you could say they are pretty fun to be around.

I love my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew to pieces! Amber, Wayne, and Kody live near my parents, so I oftentimes see them just as much, if not more, than my parents. Amber also helps me photograph weddings! She’s always looking out for what our brides and grooms need, while making sure I drink enough water, too.

I’ve known my best friend Tiffany since preschool. In high school, we used to have ‘holiday’ lunches and skip class for them. (Oops!) Then we would hang out at my house eating Wheat Thins and drinking Diet Pepsi Vanilla. We even went to college together, living down the hall from each other in the dorm. She’s always there for me, and knows just what to say to make me feel better. She has the best heart, too. Oh, I just love her!

A few more ‘tid-bits’ about me. I love: Taylor Swift, University of Kentucky basketball, dogeared pages of books, Instagram, reading, Target, bubble baths, writing, sharpies, post-it notes, lemonheads, reality TV, autumn, and cats. Well, animals in general, but specifically, cats. I began my business in 2009 and I enjoy photographing weddings and families.

And that’s that! I hope this gives any new readers a little more insight into who I am and who I am talking about in my posts. :) Also, follow me on Facebook and Instagram.

Just for fun, here’s my VERY FIRST BLOG POST back in 2009! :)

Happy Labor Day! I hope you have enjoyed this long weekend so far with family and friends. I know I have, and I’m still enjoying it, too.

Have a great rest of the day,

Bethany

Oh, how I love you!!! Those afternoons spent at your house were some of the best times!!! Remember our ‘photo shoot’ on the trampoline?! LOL!!!

Rick and I didn’t dance at our wedding. I think the first time we ever ‘danced’ together was after we were married, in the living room of our townhouse with The Voice playing in the background. I think we just liked the song one of the contestants sang. It wasn’t romantic, but for non-dancers like us it was totally fitting. ;) Which, is ironic that I’m calling myself a non-dancer because I was on the dance team in high school! ha! My, how times have changed. ;)

Anyway! I love first dances. They are romantic, and classic. They provide the guests with great photo opportunities and they show off a couple’s style via the song choice. I’m not a DJ, but with the help of some photographer friends, I have complied a list below of possible First Dance Songs for anyone still looking for a great First Dance Song. And, at the bottom is the song that I would’ve picked for Rick and I if we did have a First Dance. ;)

Moondance – Michael Buble

Never Stop – Safety Suit

All of Me – John Legend

Stay With You – John Legend

Wonderful Tonight – Eric Clapton

Keeper of The Stars – Tracy Byrd

Can’t Help Falling In Love – Elvis

Sweet Caroline – Neil Diamond

Everything – Michael Buble

Angel – Casting Crowns

Kissing You – Des’ree

I’ll Be Your Lover – Van Morrison

Tonight – JJ Heller

The Marriage Prayer – John Waller

I Do – Paul Brandt

When You Say You Love Me – Josh Groban

Feels Like Home – Chantal Kreviazuk

Sea Breeze – Tyrone Wells

The song that I would’ve picked for our wedding is: The Way I Am by Ingrid Michaelson.

Here is the video, which I just saw for the first time and I actually don’t care for. Also, don’t watch this if you hate clowns. I have no idea why she has clowns in the video! ha! Anyway, I love the song and it reminds me of when we first started dating. ;)

Have a great weekend!
